Fridays in December are filled with holiday shopping, gift wrapping and fair isle sweaters. I always wrap with kraft paper (chic and cost-effective) and grosgrain ribbon, but this year I want to incorporate holiday cards as shown above. This Khaite fair isle sweater (on sale!) is perfect for the holiday season. Phoebe dropped her ‘drive bag’ and it’s stunning. Happy weekend, all!

I am admittedly unfamiliar with Gauchere, but recently came across their Fall 2023 collection. There are many pieces that would fit seamlessly into my existing wardrobe and lifestyle. Their knitwear looks really good.

Founder and Designer Louise Roe and her daughter Sophia Roe hosted a cocktail in celebration of their tableware collaboration that launched exclusively on Net-a-Porter and the arrival of LOUISE ROE Collection. The photos of the very chic mother daughter duo are a huge inspiration to me this upcoming holiday season. These all black looks are heightened by unexpected details, fabulous jewelry and great shoes.

This recent photo of Ashley Olsen sent me on a hunt for these perfect oval sunglasses. An eagle-eyed fan identified them as The Row x Oliver People ‘Parquet’ style and I’ve been combing the secondhand market. The Celine Triomphe in oval looks like a good readily available alternative. I tried on this Madewell pair, but the frame was too small for what I’m looking for. Oval sunglasses can be hard to pull off, but the size of Ashley’s lenses and skinny temples is chic.

My girlfriend and I recently did some shopping in Soho and stopped into Uniqlo. Uniqlo is typically hit or miss for me, but I found many items that came home with me. My favorite pieces are their ‘high neck’ sweaters which I find less fussy than a true turtleneck. They look great paired with non leggings, jeans or a satin slip skirt, shown here on Jennifer Lawrence.
December! I’m so happy it’s here. With all of the upcoming festivities, I’m striving to have a few extra goodies on hand: a bottle of wine with chic wrapping or a home decor book layered with a cutting board and festive tea towels as a hostess gift. Stovetop potpourri seems like the perfect little something to give neighbors. This time of year calls for a new pair of shoes. Enjoy the first December weekend, all.
Phoebe Philo’s long awaited return to fashion – with her own label! – was met with mixed reactions. While I am glad she is back, I was a bit let down by the collection, the price tags and the subpar website experience. Phoebe’s pieces for Celine were the chicest, yet practical, items for women on the go, and I appreciated that they were designed by a working mom. The handbags, earrings and especially knitwear were iconic. I haven’t purchased anything from her new line yet, but I look forward to her future launches.

It’s no secret that I’m enamored with the simplicity of the nineties. Gwyneth Paltrow mastered the art of minimalism and I find myself turning to her nineties looks for inspiration in all seasons. She does cold weather looks especially well and I plan to recreate each of these outfits.
I tend to shy away from any type of print, but a few recent looks may have changed my mind. Mary Kate Olsen makes this gorgeous floor length coat look like a neutral. The Cos ‘tortoiseshell’ print is somehow understated and would be an excellent finishing touch to an all black outfit. The juxtaposition of dark brown floral is another chic option. A statement coat is fun to wear for girls night out, holiday gatherings or adding excitement to your workwear.

It’s astonishing how common leggings are in public (at least in America). During the pandemic it seemed as though everyone was putting comfort first and now leggings are seen everywhere. I’m trying to break the habit by wearing an easy kick flare pant instead of leggings. High Sport is the luxury pick but other brands are offering a similar style: Everlane, Donni and Spanx.
