Le Weekend XLIII

A typical weekend coming up – grocery shopping, errands and spending time with family. Looking forward to watching the big game with some delicious snacks on Sunday. I’ve been binging the Smartless podcast; it’s hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. Their interesting guests and funny banter is a joy to listen to.

Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant’s signature style is laid back and slouchy chic. Per her website, Isabel dresses women for their real lives – walking down the street or zipping off on a scooter. Not a single item leaves her workshop without first being tried on. A happy mixture of unbridled creativity, selfless seduction and a tireless pursuit of pleasure, Isabel Marant’s Maison is an ode to the sublime chaos of life.

Chanel Ballerinas

I went back and forth on these beauties for ages. Every time I stepped foot into a boutique that carried them, I would try them on. I was between sizes and unfortunately ended up purchasing the smaller size. They are tight and I don’t find myself reaching for them as much as I would like. I have the all black caviar leather and they won’t loosen up as much as the lambskin. I’ve been wearing them around the house to break them in – any other suggestions?

How To Spend It

Financial Times’ ‘How To Spend It’ is a great read. I wish I could get my hands on a physical copy – I envy seeing them on coffee tables on Instagram. The recent article titled ‘Why I’m only buying five new things in 2023’ really resonated with me. I strive to make well thought out purchases that will last a lifetime and have considered items for years before committing. I’m proud of the fact that my closet is only thirty inches wide and I rarely act on impulse. While I can relate to Lauren Indvik in some ways, I want to do more research on the materials used and the ethics of the brands I purchase from. I’m happy to see her wearing the Gucci Brixton loafers in this spread – they are a wardrobe workhorse for me. Stay tuned for my list of five – it needs some thought.

Le Weekend XLII

One of my new years resolutions is to journal more and the five minute journal has made it achievable. I’ve found myself looking forward to starting and ending my day with the prompts. This Toteme belt recently hit my inbox and I can’t stop thinking about it. My husband and I stepped out of our comfort zone and attended a cooking class last weekend. It was a blast and I highly recommend trying one in your area. Happy weekend!

The Row Fall 2023

There’s nothing quite as exciting as new collection photography from The Row. They can do no wrong in my eyes, and each look was better than the last. I love the classic black pieces and the oversized tonal scarf and coat. I’m most excited to learn more about the flat, pointed toe boots – something that’s been missing in my shoe closet.

L.L. Bean Boat and Tote

To say I love this bag is an understatement. I have one for me, one for the dog and one for the baby. It’s the definition of a forever piece: the quality is unmatched and will last a lifetime. @ironicboatandtote recently went viral – I disapprove of embroidering designer names onto the tote, but ‘Old Celine’ gave me a laugh.

Casino Chic

I have a girls weekend at the casino coming up and I’ve been struggling with what to wear. Black is the obvious color, but I’m looking for something different than my usual style choices. Maybe something off the shoulder a la Cindy Crawford – this Toteme top is at the top of my consideration list. Open to any suggestions.
