Phoebe Philo II

Earlier this week, The Business of Fashion announced that Phoebe Philo is returning to fashion after a three-year hiatus, not as the creative director of a major luxury house, but as the majority owner of her own clothing and accessories label “rooted in exceptional quality and design.” “Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling,” said Philo in a short announcement shared with The Business of Fashion. “I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me.” I haven’t been this excited about fashion industry news in quite some time and I can’t wait to learn more.

Le Weekend VIII

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen recently gave a rare interview; they’re notoriously private and I love the rare occasions when they release a statement. I’ve been wearing black straight crepe pants with camis, button downs, sweaters and always pair them with my flat bare sandals (sadly, my pants are from Uniqlo and not The Row). I’ve been reading a ton lately; a few recent favorites are Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Golden Girl by Elin Hilderbrand.

CO Essentials

CO’s website explains CO Essentials as “A streamlined collection of wardrobe staples designed for the way the modern woman works, dresses and values her time. Comprised of thirty seasonless brand classics, Essentials are thoughtfully priced and available year round. While Essentials represent a pared-down approach to dressing, each piece maintains the elements of novelty, femininity and timelessness that is central to the brand’s DNA.” This is exactly what I strive for in my own wardrobe, and I look forward to shopping this permanent collection for years to come.

Diana, Princess of Wales

Last week marked what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday, which was commemorated with a beautiful statue unveiling. Her 90’s style was simple, unfussy and incredibly chic. I still turn to photos of her when looking for timeless outfit inspiration.

Beach Bag

I haven’t been able to find The Row XL Park Tote anywhere, and after (much) consideration I don’t think that the leather base would make for a practical beach bag; I would be devastated when it eventually got wet. I paid a visit to my local Saks expecting to walk out with the Saint Laurent Panier tote in black, but the round base doesn’t collapse – it sticks out very far from the body even when empty. My sales associate recommended the Loewe Raffia Basket Tote and I immediately understood why it’s a cult favorite; I just need to find it with black leather trim which is proving challenging. Celine also has some great raffia bags – I had no idea that the Big Bag came in this texture. The search continues.

Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. Summertime, sunshine, good food and good friends, celebrating the independence of our country. I hope everyone in the states has an excellent long weekend.
