Le Weekend LXXXIII

A weekend for the dads! Coincidentally, my dad’s milestone birthday falls on Father’s Day weekend. I’m in charge of the charcuterie (giving these numbers a try) and the polaroid guest book. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, the not yet dads, the stepdads, the moms who are dad, the adoptive dads, the grandads, and the dads who are no longer with us.

Scarlett Johansson for Prada

Something about Scarlett Johansson’s campaign for Prada stuck with me. I find it so relatable with a low bun, large sunglasses and the beautiful Prada Galleria in the crook of her arm. I envisioned myself hopping into the back of a cab – this campaign hit the mark for me.

The Striped Sweater

I recently nabbed this striped sweater and have worn it way more than I would care to admit. Whether draped over my shoulders or worn as an additional layer in cooler temps, I adore this sweater. The price point means I don’t have to worry about my little one running to me with sticky fingers. The ivory with black stripes adds a bit of prep to my black wardrobe and feels nautical – perfect for summer.

Recent Reads II

We are six months in to the year of good books and I just finished a great one. I devoured A Little Life and even took a day off work to read at the beach. This book left me absolutely heartbroken and I find myself polling everyone I interact with to see if they have read it so we can discuss. Since finishing it, I’m looking for lighter reads. Luckily, Elin Hilderbrand’s (last!) Nantucket novel, Swan Song is available tomorrow.

Le Weekend LXXXII

The first weekend of June is shaping up to be a good one. We are hosting a simple barbecue with loved ones and attending a family pool party. My straw hat recently crumbled and I’m on the hunt for a new one. Have a wonderful weekend with you and yours!

Tony Bianco Footwear

I have been lusting after The Row’s lambskin band ballerina flats but needed to find a budget friendly alternative. The Jeffrey Campbell Dancerina flats kept coming up, but I was disappointed in the synthetic materials. A new-to-me brand, Tony Bianco, was recommended for this style in genuine leather. I opted for the Martinez flat and the Javier flat (I was on the hunt for slingback flats here) and have worn them both more than anticipated. Highly recommend!

Olympia Gayot

Olympia Gayot, Creative Director and Head of Women’s Design at J. Crew, is such an inspiration. I enjoyed this profile on Olympia and learning more about her backstory. She is doing incredible things for the brand and I appreciate wearing pieces designed by a working mom. A few of my current favorite pieces are the linen popover dress, the beach shirt, the boatneck tee and I am counting down the days until this bag is available. Keep it up, Olympia.

Memorial Day III

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and the unofficial start of summer. I’ve spent the weekend with family and friends enjoying the beautiful weather. Navy dresses are my favorite for the patriotic holidays – this one and this one were perfectly effortless this past weekend. Enjoy the day!
